Full time temporary position in Crete:   ARC-LHC Project Manager

ARC-LHC Project Manager will oversee a 1-year U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Lead Hazard Control Capacity Building Grant Program, whose goal is to develop a plan for a regional (5-county) lead hazard control program.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and organize community members into a representative ARC-LHC stakeholder group, including representatives of the following sectors: financial lending, renovation/home improvement, education, housing rehabilitation and weatherization programs, local government/code enforcement, and public health.
  • Become familiar with HUD’s Lead Hazard Control program.
  • Develop or adapt a facilitation process for creating key components of a Lead Hazard Control Plan.
  • Plan and facilitate a series of planning meetings to develop policies and procedures governing a Lead Hazard Control Program for the target five-county area.
  • Coordinate lead hazard control training program for home renovation contractors.
  • Promote the project concept and progress.
  • Prepare progress reports and other tracking/reporting materials.
  • Prepare components of an application for HUD Lead Hazard Control Grant Program funds.

 Required Experience, Skills, Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and 1-3 years experience with project management, public or environmental health, public administration, business administration, communication, local government, housing rehabilitation, group facilitation, or other related fields. (Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – must be able to work well with diverse groups of people. This position requires a high level of energy and enthusiasm.
  • Candidate must be able to define problems, collect/present information simply to a broad audience, interpret instructions furnished in various forms. 
  • Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office applications, writing (reports, policy statements, procedural manuals).
  • Must be physically able to drive a vehicle on trips lasting 2 hours each way, type, stand, walk, and lift and/or move objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Valid Nebraska driver’s license within 1 month of start.

 

Special consideration will be given to applicants with:

  • Past or present ties to the five-county PHS service area (Fillmore, Gage, Jefferson, Saline and Thayer Counties).
  • Understanding and experience with rural housing, environmental, and health issues.

 

Hours per week: 40 hours/week over 11-12 month period. Expect varied hours to meet the needs of the project, potentially including weekends and evenings (overnight travel may be required for HUD training). Benefits (medical, dental) are included in the compensation package.

 

Compensation range: pay commensurate with experience.
