Rental Properties and Housing Codes Pertaining to Health and Safety
Parts of the state and federal housing codes address health and safety issues that the landlord and tenant must abide by. PHS' Environmental Health Division can assist landlords and tenants in making sure these codes are being followed so that rental units are safe and healthy for current and future tenants. "Second-Hand Smoke in Rental Units" contains information to help landlords and tenants address exposure to environmental tobacco smoke between units.
There are also State health regulations regarding cleaning up after a meth lab bust. These rules are designed to protect future renters from dangerous residual chemicals that may persist long after the lab has been closed down.
