Environmental Consciousness at Public Health Solutions
Staff members at Public Health Solutions District Health Department are committed to minimizing our environmental impact.
- We recycle all of our paper, cardboard, aluminum, plastic, glass, and small batteries.
- We purchase recycled content office supplies whenever possible.
- We have a policy in place to limit our energy use/waste.
- We employ a full-time Environmental Health Coordinator to provide input and answer environmental questions of the the staff and general public.
As individuals, away from the office, we also take steps to reduce waste.
- Several staff members bring their own reusable bags along when shopping.
- One staff person composts her food and yard waste, and another is preparing to do the same.
- Two individuals are also preparing to install rain barrels to collect run-off for yard irrigation.
- At least one staff member has sworn off the use of household and yard chemicals in favor of more natural and less toxic alternatices, and several others are following suit.
As a staff and as individuals, we are always looking at new ways to shrink our ecological footprint.
