Public Health Nursing: Breastfeeding
Everything we know about breastfeeding is positive, from long-term health benefits for both baby and mother, to priceless mother-child bonding. Even breastfeeding for just the first few months has been shown to have positive effects.
Public Health Solutions is deeply committed to promoting and enabling breastfeeding for new moms who are physically able to do so. PHS has a Certified Breastfeeding Educator and two Certified Lactation Counselors on staff. Also coming soon, a Breastfeeding Support Line to remotely assist new mothers get the information they need to establish and maintain a positive breastfeeding habit.

Bridges to Better Breastfeeding: PHS' hospital nurse training program, to facilitate more successful breastfeeding. On June 22-23, 2009 PHS hosted a Certified Breastfeeding Counselor Course at ParkView Centers. This course was brought to Nebraska from Prepared Childbirth Educators, Inc., and was for RN's or LPN's interested in obtaining accurate, current information about lactation management. Participants were also eligible to sit for a credentialing exam after the 2-day course. For more information call PHS at 1-888-310-0565.
