PHS' Emergency Response Coordinator Appointed to SERC
Kim Plouzek, Emergency Response Coordinator for Public Health Solutions District Health Department, was recently appointed and confirmed as the newest member of Nebraska's State Emergency Response Commission, a body whose responsibilities include supervision of Local Emergency Planning Committees, and oversight of the Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act. The commission has 19 members from state and local government, including fire, law, public health, schools, industry, transportation and public.
Kim's appointment falls under the "Environmental Protection" category of representation. In addition to her current role as Emergency Response Coordinator for PHS, she also has a background in public and environmental health health, and has recently completed an environmental health assessment project that put her in the midst of 5 county workgroups aimed at planning and strategizing to address issues like hazardous waste storage and air and water quality.
